At the 28th Ordinary Meeting of the SADC Ministerial Committee of the Organ (MCO) on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation in Malawi, Botswana’s Acting Minister of International Relations also leader of Botswana delegation, Honourable Nelson Ramaotwana, highlighted the nation's focus on regional stability.He underscored the importance of improving the SADC peace and security architecture by upgrading early warning systems, boosting the operational readiness of the standby force, and strengthening regional institutions against modern security threats.

Additionally, Minister Ramaotwana noted SADC's efforts in the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda, highlighting the vital impact of women participating actively across the region's security sector.

He commended the Experts and the Secretariat for developing the proposed Mechanism for the Selection of Candidatures to Continental and International Organisations. He emphasized that the Mechanism demonstrates commitment to transparency in the selection process, effective coordination of support and resources and ensure fairness in the nomination as well as endorsement of regional candidates.

Minister Ramaotwana expressed appreciation for the work undertaken by the SADC Electoral Advisory Council (SEAC).

He congratulated candidates Advocate Kasumpa Mwansa Kabalata of the Republic of Zambia on his election as Chairperson of the Council and Dr Leonard Sesa of the Republic of Botswana as Deputy Chairperson of the SEAC.
